What to Expect with Tile Installation

When you contract Pizazz Floors & Interior Design to design and install your new tile floor, there are a few things we’d like you to know.

First, we want to thank you for choosing Pizazz Floors to partner with, and trusting that we will provide an exceptionally high quality, easy, and enjoyable experience.  Tile is FUN, and we make it FUN!  Tile design gives the homeowner a chance to let their creative juices flow (even if you are not the creative type).

The design and installation process will go as follows:

♦ Step 1– A Pizazz design consultant will meet with you in your home, measure the space, suggest some “starter” ideas, and determine a budget you are comfortable with.

♦ Step 2– We will meet you at a local tile shop to select your tile.  At the tile shop, the design consultant will take a collaborative approach to making your dreams become a reality.  No design is set in stone, and at Pizazz, we listen to what you want and what you expect.  After the design is established, we will order the material and wait for delivery (sometimes the material is in stock, and sometimes we have to wait a few weeks).

♦ Step 3– Now the noise begins!  On your scheduled start date, we will move furniture, unplug appliances, and begin demolition.  We ask that you remove all personal items and smaller furniture pieces from the room(s) that will be tiled prior to your start date.  The demo process usually takes one day.

♦ Step 4– Preparation of the space.  Pizazz will install the backer board or other prepping material (job specific).

♦ Step 5– A highly skilled installation crew will begin laying the floor.  Size, shape, and pattern will each play a factor on the time frame.  Under normal circumstances, we can install between 400- 800 square feet of tile, with an average design, in one day.  If the space is larger or more intricate, the installation will take longer, but your design consultant will lay out a schedule for you at the beginning of the job.  The newly installed floor will have to set up, or dry, for at least 12–18 hours.

♦ Step 6– After the installation is complete, Pizazz will grout and seal the floor.  We recommend waiting 24 hours after the sealer is applied to resume normal living on the floor.

♦ Step 7– We will return the following day after the sealer has dried to move back furniture, set toilets, hang doors, install trim, tuck carpet, etc… and you can enjoy you new tile masterpiece!
